More Than 30 Years of Experience
Hudson Bay Electric was founded by Dan Skinner in 1987 in Smithers, BC. In Smithers and the surrounding areas, we provided electrical services for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Residential projects included new single family home builds and renovations, as well as multi-family homes.
Commercial and industrial jobs included sawmills, fishing lodges, gas stations, lake bubbling systems, commercial garages, restaurants, retail stores, etc.
The company was later moved in 2001 to Calgary, AB. In Calgary, we continued to work on mostly residential and commercial jobs. These included apartment building renovations, fire alarm system upgrades, and numerous restaurant renovations including Tipperary’s Pub, Phoenix Grill, Prime Time Restaurant, and The Catch.
As we continue to expand, we now provide electrical services across Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane and other areas of southern Alberta.

In 2005 I started working with Hudson Bay Electric as a new apprentice, after completing the pre-employment program at SAIT. Over the next four years I completed my apprenticeship, gaining knowledge and experience in residential and light commercial electrical. One of the things I enjoy most about the electrical trade is the process of seeing a project progress from start to finish, along with interacting and collaborating with clients to turn their visions into reality.
In 2009 I finished my apprenticeship and obtained my Red Seal Journeyman Ticket and later in 2014 I upgraded to my Electrical Masters ticket, with the goal to further expand my knowledge and career.
In November of 2016, I became a partner within Hudson Bay Electric. I take pride in the progression of my whole electrical career through Hudson Bay Electric and plan to continue our success and expand the company further in the future. My personal goal is to ensure customer satisfaction and help my employees to be successful both personally and professionally.
